Nurse Alice Wrinch is standing third from the left in this photograph of the nurses and student nurses at Grace Hospital, Toronto, in about 1898. Note the black bands on the caps of most of the nurses. Does anyone know the names of anyone else?

Inside Hazelton Hospital
This is a rare photograph of the inside of Hazelton Hospital, built by Dr. Wrinch in 1904. On the hall table lies what looks to be the hospital register, now in the United Church Archives in Vancouver.

Hazelton Cornet Band
Under the leadership of Abel Oakes, standing on the right, this band played at many functions in Hazelton. One such occasion was the breaking of the sod for the new Hazelton Hospital in 1930, when this photograph was taken. The Gitxsan in Old Hazelton were noted for their musical ability and were able to pick up melodies very quickly. Traditionally, on Christmas Eve one of the bands paraded through town playing Christmas carols. (Photo: my collection)
